The Next Generation of Gravel
The Life Time UNBOUND Gravel Kids Crit presented by Sprockids brings young riders, ages 2-10 years old, to the streets of Emporia for a fun, fast, and family-friendly race.
In the heart of downtown, kids get the chance to experience the thrill of competition in a safe and exciting environment. Whether they’re rolling up on balance bikes or sprinting for the finish, every rider gets a taste of the UNBOUND Gravel spirit.
Each participant gets a bike plate to optionally customize, and a finisher medal, plus the first 150 riders will receive a free t-shirt. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division.

- Thursday 1 PM – 6 PM Packet Pickup | Expo Family Zone
- Thursday 1 PM – 6 PM Number Plate and Bike Decorating with Emporia Arts Council and Emporia Recreation Center | Expo
- Friday 10 AM – 11:30 AM Packet Pickup | Expo Family Zone
- Friday 12 PM Races Begin | Commercial St
- 12:05 PM Balance bikes – all ages 2-10 (staging at 12 PM)
- 12:20 PM Pedal ages 3-4 (staging at 12:15 PM)
- 12:35 PM Pedal ages 5-6 (staging at 12:30 PM)
- 12:50 PM Ages 7-8 (staging at 12:45 PM)
- 1:05 PM Ages 9-10 (staging at 1:00 PM)
- 1:30 PM Podium Awards at Finish Line
Rules
- Helmets are mandatory
- Must have flat handlebars (no road bikes)
- Bar ends plugged (no holes in the end of the handlebars)
- Knobby tires
- Working brakes (excluding balance bike categories)
- No BMX Pegs
- Closed-toed shoes are mandatory
- Good sportsmanship
- Hands on bars the entire race
- No wheelies or feet on handlebars
- Organizers have full discretion to call out safety issues
